RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is a regulation that limits the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipment to protect human health and the environment.
According to Chris Smith of the National Weights and Measures Laboratory (NWML), the authority responsible for enforcing RoHS in the UK, around 99% of inspected products meet RoHS compliance requirements. In most cases where non-compliance was identified, companies achieved compliance after receiving appropriate RoHS training. Only a small number of cases required legal enforcement action.
