Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a process improvement framework that helps organizations enhance performance, produce high-quality products, and deliver outstanding services. It defines the key behaviors and processes an organization should follow to achieve consistent, effective, and measurable results.
CMMI uses structured levels to guide improvement:
Maturity Levels – describe the overall maturity of organizational processes, from initial/ad hoc practices to optimized and continuously improving processes.
Capability Levels – focus on the capability of individual processes, indicating how well they are performed and managed.
The framework is divided into Process Areas, each addressing a specific aspect of organizational performance. These areas can be inhanse to fit the culture and needs of the organization, CMMI outlines what behaviors and processes should exist to achieve better results.
